Air Liquide Egypt’s Commitment to Sustainability
Sustainability and caring for our planet and future generations are no longer separate from business performance.
Air Liquide Egypt has been operating in the country since 2002, serving industries across a wide range of sectors, including metals, glass, chemicals, petrochemicals, food and beverage, automotive, healthcare, oil and gas and research.
Across these sectors, Air Liquide Egypt integrates sustainability into its business approach, alongside industrial performance, environmental responsibility and long-term social value.
Air Liquide Supports Egypt’s Transition to a Low-Carbon Economy
Air Liquide’s global ADVANCE strategy places financial and non-financial performance on equal footing. Air Liquide Group has committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, in line with the ambitions of the Paris Agreement.
In Egypt, this commitment is reflected in projects and partnerships that support decarbonization, energy efficiency, renewable energy, water access and more sustainable industrial operations.
As part of these efforts, Air Liquide Egypt signed a Memorandum of Understanding with United Energy Group to explore low-carbon ammonia production using renewable hydrogen.
Under the partnership, Air Liquide is expected to contribute its technological expertise, industrial infrastructure and nitrogen supply capabilities. The two companies will also work on solutions that address the intermittency of renewable energy, helping make renewable-based ammonia production more competitive and reliable.
This collaboration aims to support Egypt’s ambition to become an important hub for green hydrogen and renewable energy projects.
Improving Energy Efficiency Across Industry
The initiative involves energy audits across 25 facilities and entities, with the aim of identifying opportunities to improve performance, support decarbonization and move operations closer to Net Zero targets.
This involvement reflects the importance of collaboration between industrial companies, technology providers and public-sector stakeholders in advancing sustainability goals.
Energy transition challenges cannot be addressed by one organization alone. They require shared expertise, measurable action and long-term partnerships.
Developing Cleaner Industrial Solutions
Air Liquide supports sustainability in industrial production by helping customers reduce emissions, improve efficiency and optimize their manufacturing processes.
Through Nexelia™, Air Liquide provides integrated solutions that combine industrial gases, process expertise, application technologies, equipment and technical support. Each solution is developed around the customer’s operational needs, including gas purity, flow, safety requirements and production volumes.
The Nexelia™ portfolio includes solutions for applications such as cryogenic processing, laser welding and water treatment. In water treatment, for example, these solutions can help increase plant capacity, optimize operating costs and address challenges such as foam and odors.
This approach demonstrates how industrial gas solutions can support stronger operational performance while helping businesses reduce their environmental impact.
Creating Social Impact Through Sustainable Infrastructure
Air Liquide Egypt’s sustainability efforts also extend beyond industrial operations.
In partnership with the Life From Water Foundation, the company supported a project to improve water access in three villages in Minya Governorate. Traditional energy sources were replaced with solar-powered systems, providing safe and reliable water access to approximately 27,000 families while reducing associated carbon emissions.
The project demonstrates how renewable energy can create direct improvements in daily life, especially in communities where access to essential resources remains a challenge.
Turning Commitments Into Practical Progress
Air Liquide Egypt’s approach to sustainability brings together technology, community investment, energy transition partnerships, and customer-focused innovation.
We believe that corporate social responsibility is not only about setting targets. It is about applying our expertise where it can create real value: helping industries operate more efficiently, supporting national and international climate objectives, conserving resources for future generations and improving quality of life.
This approach shows that sustainability can become a practical driver of innovation, resilience and shared growth.
